The Alabama women's basketball team defeated the Winthrop Eagles 79-50 Friday in Coleman Coliseum.

The Crimson Tide started the game with a 13-3 run to quickly jump out ahead of the Eagles, as Sarah Ashlee Barker surpassed 600 career points after her first bucket.

Barker (19), Aaliyah Nye (17), Jessica Timmons (12) and Loyal McQueen (10) collected double digits in points to help lead Alabama to a 2-0 to start the season. Essence Cody grabbed a career-high eight rebounds to lead the team.

Alabama picked up the first win in the series, as the teams met for the first time on the court
Alabama shot 45 percent (29-of-65) from the floor, 26 percent (7-of-27) from beyond-the-arc and 61 percent (14-of-23) from the stripe
The Crimson Tide dominated the paint, outscoring Winthrop 42-12
UA also led on the boards by a margin of eight (38-30), 17 of which were offensive
The Tide forced 28 turnovers, resulting in 26 points

The Alabama women's basketball team defeated the Alabama State Hornets 93-39 Monday night in Coleman Coliseum in the 2023-24 season opener for both teams.

All 11 Crimson Tide players scored at least one point in the 54-point victory.

Sarah Ashlee Barker led Alabama as she scored a career-high 23 points while picking up a game-high eight rebounds.

Jessica Timmons also put up a career-high points with 18 on the night while Essence Cody added 11 points in her collegiate debut.

The Alabama women's basketball team will appear 11 times on the ESPN family of networks for the 2023-24 season, announced by the Southeastern Conference and ESPN.

The Crimson Tide makes its television debut on the ACC Network Nov. 30, playing at Syracuse in the ACC/SEC Challenge before airing its only non-conference match on SEC Network hosting ULM on Dec. 17.

Alabama will have nine conference games broadcast on SEC Network including the Feb. 11 match up at LSU which will air on ESPN2 or SEC Network.

After leaving Madrid this morning, Alabama players, coaches and staff traveled to the second city of the tour - Valencia. The Crimson Tide made the most of its first evening in the new city by touring the Torres de Serranos which is one of 12 gates that formed the wall of the ancient city during the late 14th century.

Alabama women's basketball players, coaches and support staff will depart Saturday for a three-game, 10-day trip to Spain.

The team will visit the cities of Madrid, Valencia and Barcelona in what will be the program's first-ever trip to the country and third foreign tour under head coach Kristy Curry.

• Dillard Named Women’s Basketball Director of Operations •

Bryce Dillard has been named the director of operations for the Alabama women's basketball team, head coach Kristy Curry announced Wednesday. Dillard's promotion comes after serving as the program's director of video operations during the 2022-23 season.

Dillard will enter his second season at Alabama after working with the Crimson Tide during the 2022-23 campaign. As the director of operations, he will assist with the day-to-day functions and logistics for the program. Additionally, Dillard will oversee team travel, budgets, booster club, coordinating practice times and will be the equipment liaison.

Alabama’s basketball team will host Clemson in the inaugural SEC/ACC Challenge in late November, it was announced Wednesday.

The Crimson Tide faces the Tigers on Tuesday, Nov. 28 at Coleman Coliseum in Tuscaloosa. The game tips off at 8:30 p.m. and will be broadcast on one of the ESPN networks — ESPN, ESPN2, ESPNU, SEC Network or ACC Network.

Alabama’s women’s team will also participate in the SEC/ACC Challenge. The Crimson Tide travels to Syracuse at 6 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 30.

Alabama's Roman Tubner has been named associate head coach and recruiting coordinator, head women's basketball coach Kristy Curry announced Thursday.

The 2022-23 season marked the conclusion of Tubner's second season with the Crimson Tide. While with Alabama, the program posted back-to-back 20-win seasons and reached the NCAA Tournament for the second time in three years this past season.

Alabama women's basketball head coach Kristy Curry announced Monday the addition of Tennille Adams as an assistant coach.

Adams brings nearly 20 years of coaching experience with her as she joins the Crimson Tide staff after serving as the associate head coach at UCF last season.

• Las Vegas Aces select Alabama guard in WNBA Draft •

The Las Vegas Aces selected Alabama guard Brittany Davis with the final pick of the 27th WNBA Draft on Monday night.

The Aces are the defending WNBA champions after posting a Western Conference-best 26-10 regular-season record last season and winning three playoff series to capture the league crown.

With the final choice in the third round – the 36th pick overall – Las Vegas added Davis. She was the only selection for the Aces in this year’s draft.

• Bama Signs Former Four-Star, Arizona St. Transfer Meg Newman •

The four-star recruit was ranked as the No. 33 overall player in the country and sixth-best forward coming out of high school according to ESPN.com

The Alabama women's basketball team added former four-star and Arizona State transfer Meg Newman to the 2023-24 season. Newman was considered one of the top forwards in the country coming out of high school.

INCOMING ALABAMA FRESHMAN REYCHEL DOUGLAS OPENS WHO’S NXT? ALL-AMERICAN GAME FRIDAY:

Incoming Alabama freshman Reychel Douglas will compete at the Who's NXT? All-American Game on Friday during the NCAA Division I Women's Final Four in Dallas.

Douglas is one of 38 female high school student-athletes selected to compete in the All-American double-header at the Paul Quinn Gymnasium at 12:30 p.m. CT and 2 p.m.

The Southeastern Conference announced its 2023 women's basketball postseason awards Tuesday.

South Carolina's Aliyah Boston was named Player of the Year as well as Defensive Player of the Year. This is Boston's fourth straight Defensive Player of the Year award and second Player of the Year honor. She was also named Freshman of the Year in 2020.

LSU's Flau'jae Johnson was named Freshmen of the Year with the 6th Woman of the Year award going to South Carolina's Kamilla Cardoso. Alabama's Hannah Barber was named Scholar-Athlete of the Year.

South Carolina's Dawn Staley was named Coach of the Year. This is Staley's sixth SEC Coach of the Year honor.

First-team and second-team All-SEC honorees, All-Freshman team, All-Defensive team, along with Player, Coach and Freshman, Defensive Player, 6th Player and Scholar-Athlete of the Year were chosen by the league's 14 coaches.

• Bama Falls to Ole Miss, 57-55, Earns Sixth Seed in SEC Tournament •


The Alabama women's basketball team fell in a 57-55 heartbreaker to Ole Miss Sunday to conclude the regular season.

The game saw five ties and a lead change in the final quarter but a pair of last second free throws gave the Rebels the win.

With the loss, the Crimson Tide earned the sixth seed for the Southeastern Conference Tournament and will face the winner of 11th-seed Florida and 14th-seed Kentucky.

Alabama (20-9, 9-7 SEC) was led by a 12-point performance from Aaliyah Nye. Brittany Davis had 11 points, six boards and three assists, while both Sarah Ashlee Barker and Jada Rice tallied eight rebounds in the game. Barker added eight points and a steal, while Rice recorded six points and two blocks in the loss.

• Bama's Comeback Falls Short in 81-77 Loss to Florida •


A second-half comeback fell short for the Alabama women's basketball team as the Crimson Tide dropped an 81-77 decision to Florida on Thursday.

Four players recorded double figures in the game with Brittany Davis' 16-point, eight-rebound performance pacing Alabama (20-8, 9-6 SEC).

Hannah Barber and Aaliyah Nye both tallied 15 points as Barber also recorded five assists. Sarah Ashlee Barker added 10 points and three steals to the loss.

Florida (15-13, 4-11 SEC) was led by a 22-point game from KK Deans. Lelani Correa had 12 points while Ra Shaya Kyle had 14 points and seven boards and Nina Rickards had 11 points and five boards in the win.

• Barber’s Late Three Lifts Alabama to a 69-66 Win Over Arkansas •


Alabama women's basketball guard Hannah Barber drained a three pointer with eight seconds left in regulation to give Crimson Tide a 69-66 win over No. RV/24 Arkansas in Bud Walton Arena Thursday night.

The Crimson Tide and Razorbacks had five ties and eight lead changes in the second half alone as the two teams battled until the end.

Arkansas tied the game off a three-pointer with 33 seconds on the clock, but a pass from Loyal McQueen back to Barber gave UA the winning basket.

• Bama Women Held Off Ole Miss For A 63-58 SEC Road Win •


The Alabama women's basketball team outlasted the Ole Miss Rebels on Sunday, taking a 63-58 road win in SJB Pavilion.

The Crimson Tide was playing without its two leading point scorers, Brittany Davis and Megan Abrams, who both suffered injuries against Auburn on Jan. 8.

After trailing by eight points at the end of the first quarter (17-9), Alabama battled back to make it a one-possession game heading into halftime (27-25). UA would outscore the Rebels 38-31 in the second half to take a five-point victory on the road.

Alabama (14-4, 3-2 SEC) had three players in double digits as Sarah Ashlee Barker paced the Tide with 16 points, five boards, three assists and two steals.

Loyal McQueen scored 14 points in the game, in addition to tallying three boards, three assists and two steals, while Jada Rice recorded an 11-point, 11-rebound double-double. Rice also tallied three blocks in the win.

• Bama Women Have Dominant 88-57 Road Win Over Auburn •


The Alabama women's basketball team captured an impressive 88-57 win over Auburn on Sunday in Neville Arena.

The win was the Tide's (13-4, 2-2 SEC) eighth consecutive victory over the Tigers, matching UA's longest winning streak against Auburn in series history.

Brittany Davis led all scorers with 24 points, shooting 10-of-15 from the floor.

Sarah Ashlee Barker recorded nine points, eight boards, five assists, three steals and two blocks, while Ryan Cobbins posted nine points, five rebounds and an assist.

Additionally, Hannah Barber, Jada Rice and Aaliyah Nye recorded eight points in the win. Rice also secured a season-high 10 boards in the game, in addition to a block and a steal.

Sania Wells led the Tigers (10-6, 0-4 SEC) with 13 points, while Kharyssa Richardson recorded 11 points and three boards. Mar'Shaun Bostic added 10 points, three boards and two steals in the loss.

2022 Alabama Womens Basketball 2023

♦ Alabama Falls To 12-3 after 89-76 Loss @ Tennessee ♦


A late push from the Crimson Tide fell short on Sunday as the Alabama women's basketball team (12-3, 1-1 SEC) fell 89-76 to Tennessee (10-6, 2-0 SEC) in Thompson-Boling Arena.

Megan Abrams led all scorers with a season-high 24 points while Loyal McQueen tallied a career-high 21 points as the duo scored 45 of UA's 76 points in the game.

McQueen and Hannah Barber led the team in assists with three apiece, while Jada Rice pulled down a team-leading seven boards.

Tennessee was led by Rickea Jackson, who scored 22 points in the game in addition to recording seven boards and three assists.

Tess Darby recorded 16 points, three blocks and a steal, while both Jordan Walker and Jillian Hollingshead tallied 15 points for the Lady Vols.
