Oats ‘Fully commited,’ to Bama, despite UK rumors

Nearly from the moment John Calipari’s impending move to Arkansas was announced.

Alabama basketball head coach Nate Oats was mentioned as a possible candidate for the Kentucky job.

On Monday, Oats released a statement to quell any rumors of a move.

Oats sent out the statement on social media.

Alabama Falls to UConn in NCAA Final Four, 86-72


Tuscaloosa, AL

The No. 4 seed Alabama men's basketball team fell to defending national champion and top overall seed UConn, 86-72, in the 2024 NCAA Men's Final Four Saturday night inside State Farm Stadium.

Mark Sears led three Crimson Tide players in double figures with 24 points to go along with five rebounds and three assists.

Grant Nelson had a season-best 15 rebounds to go along with 19 points to earn his fourth double-double of the season and second in the NCAA Tournament.

Coleman Coliseum to Host NCAA Final Four Watch Party

Tuscaloosa, AL

Fans will have the opportunity to watch Alabama men's basketball make its first appearance in the NCAA Final Four from Coleman Coliseum on Saturday, April 6. The viewing is open to the public with doors set to open at 7 p.m. CT (tip scheduled for 7:49 p.m. CT).

Additional details for the event are as follows:

Parking is available in the Coleman Coliseum lots and Capstone Deck
Admission is free

Bama Arrives in Phoenix for the 2024 NCAA Men’s Final Four

Phoenix, AZ

The Crimson Tide travel party were treated to some excitement before departing Tuscaloosa Regional Airport as the staff and players were greeted by hundreds of fans, as well as Big Al, UA cheer and band.

Once the Tide boarded the plane, the flight took approximately three-and-a-half hours.

Once the travel party de-planed, a trio of buses, led by a police escort, took the team to its hotel in downtown Phoenix.

Bama Reaches its First-Ever Final Four with 89-82 Win over Clemson

Los Angeles, CA

The Alabama men's basketball team made history Saturday night in Crypto.com Arena, as the No. 4 seed Crimson Tide reached the program's first-ever Final Four, defeating No. 6 seed Clemson, 89-82, in the NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament Elite Eight.

Mark Sears, who was named the West Region Most Valuable Player, led five UA players in double figures, finishing with a game high 23 points on 7-14 shooting from beyond the arc.

Nick Pringle collected a double-double with 16 points and 11 boards.

Bama Advances to Program's Elite 8 with 89-87 Win over #1 UNC

Los Angeles, CA.

The Alabama men's basketball team advanced to the program's second-ever NCAA Tournament Elite 8 thanks to an 89-87 upset victory over #1 seed North Carolina Thursday night inside Crypto.com Arena.

With the victory, the Crimson Tide will face #6 seed Clemson Saturday with the winner advancing to the 2024 Men's Basketball Final Four.

Grant Nelson played arguably his best game in an Alabama uniform, as he finished with 24 points.

Saturday's Elite 8 contest will be played against #6 seed Clemson Tigers, who defeated #2 Arizona, 77-72.
The contest will tipoff at 7:49 CT (5:49 PT) and will be televised on TBS and truTV

Alabama Advances to NCAA Tournament Second Round

The No. 4 seed Alabama men's basketball team put on a dominant performance in the opening round of the 2024 NCAA Tournament, with a convincing 109-96 victory over No. 13 seed College of Charleston Friday night in Spokane Veterans Memorial Arena.

The Crimson Tide (22-11) led by as many as 31 points and put on a shooting display that resulted in a new school record for points scored in an NCAA Tournament contest.

Nate Oats Agrees to Contract Extension Through 2030

Tuscaloosa, AL

University of Alabama Director of Athletics Greg Byrne announced head men's basketball coach Nate Oats and the University have agreed to a raise and contract extension, which was approved Monday by The University of Alabama System Board of Trustees Compensation Committee.

The new agreement will extend his current contract by one season to keep him in charge of the Crimson Tide basketball program through March 14, 2030.

Tide enter the NCAA Tourney as the No. 4 seed in the West Region

Tuscaloosa, AL

Alabama men’s basketball is headed to Spokane, Washington to start its quest for a national title.

The Crimson Tide earned a four-seed in the NCAA Tournament and a matchup with No. 13 Charleston in the round of 64.

The Tide is scheduled for Friday at 6:35 p.m. CT (truTV) in Spokane Veterans Memorial Arena. The Charleston Cougars (27-7) are coming off a CAA Tournament win.

Nate Oats talks new contract, building Bama basketball

Before Alabama basketball’s loss on Friday against Florida in the SEC Tournament semifinals, UA athletics director Greg Byrne announced on social media that head coach Nate Oats was receiving an extension.

The news came shortly after the Michigan job opened, and multiple reports state it will make Oats one of the five highest-paid coaches in college basketball.

After the game, Oats said he was thrilled to remain at Alabama.

Sears Named to the Wooden Award Ballot

Alabama men's basketball guard Mark Sears has been named to the 2024 John R. Wooden Award national ballot, the Los Angeles Athletic Club announced Saturday.

Sears is one of 15 players in America considered for the Wooden Award All-American Team and the Wooden Award Trophy.

Men's Basketball Signee Derrion Reid Named to the
Naismith All-America Team

Alabama men's basketball signee Derrion Reid has been named to the Jersey Mike's Naismith Boys High School All-America Honorable Mention Team, organizers announced Wednesday.

A five-star prospect, Reid is rated as the No. 8 player in the country and the No. 5 small forward the country by ESPN.

Mark Sears Named a Finalist for the Bob Cousy Award

Alabama men's basketball guard Mark Sears was named a finalists for the 2024 Bob Cousy, the Naismith Awards announced Monday.

Joining Sears on the list is Houston's Jamal Shead, Marquette's Tyler Kolek, Purdue's Braden Smith and UConn's Tristen Newton.

The No. 14/13 Alabama men's basketball team fell to No. 4/4 Tennessee, 81-74, Saturday night inside Coleman Coliseum.

The Crimson Tide held a seven-point lead midway through the second half, however, the Volunteers would use a 14-4 run to regain the lead and go on to the road win.

Alabama (20-9, 12-4 SEC) used a 29-12 run that spanned halftime that turned a 39-29 UA deficit into a 58-51 lead with 13:42 remaining.

UA Outlasts No. 24 UF in OT Thriller, 98-93

The No. 13/13 Alabama men's basketball team came back from a double-digit second half deficit and defeated No. 24/RV Florida in overtime, 98-93, Wednesday night inside Coleman Coliseum.

The contest featured eight ties and 16 lead changes in the back-and-forth thriller.

Alabama (19-7, 11-3 SEC) trailed for a majority of the game and went down by as many as 10 points, 72-62, at the 8:40 mark of the second half.

Men's Basketball Gets Back to Winning


Tuscaloosa, AL

BATON ROUGE, La. – The No. 16/16 Alabama men's basketball team got back to its winning ways Saturday afternoon at LSU, defeating the Tigers 109-92 at the Pete Maravich Assembly Center.

With the win, the Crimson Tide (17-7, 9-2 SEC) completes a season sweep of the Tigers, scoring a combined 218 points in the two victories (won 109-88 on Jan. 27).
