Tuscaloosa, AL The Alabama women's basketball team defeated the Winthrop Eagles 79-50 Friday in Coleman Coliseum. The Crimson Tide started the game with a 13-3 run to quickly jump out ahead of the Eagles, as Sarah Ashlee Barker surpassed 600 career points after her first bucket. Barker (19), Aaliyah Nye (17), Jessica Timmons (12) and Loyal McQueen (10) collected double digits in points to help lead Alabama to a 2-0 to start the season. Essence Cody grabbed a career-high eight rebounds to lead the team.
