• Bama Soccer closes season with second round loss to UNC •

 Tuscaloosa, AL

LUBBOCK, Texas - The sixth-seeded Alabama soccer team (12-5-5) concluded the 2023 campaign in the Second Round of the NCAA Tournament Friday after falling 1-0 to third-seeded North Carolina (12-1-8).

North Carolina found its game-winning shot off a low driven ball from Ally Sentnor in the 19th minute. UA's Coralie Lallier would tally a career-high saves in net to hold the Tar Heels to just one goal in the game.

From Head Coach Wes Hart: "Today we lost to a very talented and well coached North Carolina team. I thought they had the run of the play in the first half, but I thought our response in the second half was excellent. We were able to gain much more territory and pin them in.

"Proud of our team today and throughout the season. We had big shoes to fill based on our success last season, and despite losing a core group of players from last season, we were able to put together a pretty impressive year."

The Game

A low driven ball from North Carolina's Ally Sentnor was the deciding play of the game as her shot put the Tar Heels up 1-0 in the 19th minute

The Crimson Tide recorded chances from Marianna Annest, Nadia Ramadan, Cameron Silva and Gianna Paul in the game, but was unable to find its equalizer

Coralie Lallier tallied a career-high eight saves in the game to conclude her freshman year with 42 stops and a 7-3-3 record

Despite the loss, Alabama put together one of its best seasons in program history as the Tide reached the Second Round of the NCAA Tournament for just the third time in program history
