Tuscaloosa, AL COLLEGE STATION, Texas: The No. 19 Alabama soccer team (8-3-4, 2-3-1 SEC) fell 3-1 to Texas A&M (7-5,2, 3-2-1 SEC) on the road Sunday night. Gianna Paul scored the first goal of the game off a cross from Felicia Knox, but the Aggies would score three goals over the final 35 minutes of action to secure the win. From Head Coach Wes Hart: "I thought the first half was solid. Second half was disappointing. We came out flat and they played like a team desperate to win. Our goal was against the run of play, I hoped that would get us going, but they responded shortly after and we couldn't seem to grab momentum." The Game: The Crimson Tide found the back of the net first after Felicia Knox forced a turnover in the box in the 53rd minute Knox crossed the ball to Paul, who trapped the ball towards net before firing it low into the right corner A turnover two minutes later by UA's defense set Taylor Pounds up for a long shot to even the score Another miscue gave the Aggies the lead after Maile Hayes played the intercepted ball out wide to Mia Pante, who cut towards goal and scored in the 57th minute Texas A&M scored their final goal off a counterattack as a give-and-go put Wilkerson behind the backline in the 83rd minute Dylan Pixton tallied a season-high seven saves in the game as Paul tallied her eighth goal this year |
