Tuscaloosa, AL • Fouts and Hensley Voted to USA Softball POY Watch List •
Alabama Softball's Montana Fouts and Faith Hensley both made USA Softball's preseason watch list for its 2023 Player of the Year award, released Wednesday.
Fouts has appeared on the preseason list in four straight seasons and was a finalist for the award in 2019 and 2021. Hensley makes her first career appearance on the list, transferring to Alabama this year as a fifth-year senior after four seasons at Ball State, earning Mid-America Player of the Year honors in 2022. The Top 25 finalists for the 2023 USA Softball Collegiate Player of the Year award will be announced April 19. While an athlete does not have to be on the Preseason Watch List to be considered for the Top 25, the eventual winner of the award will come from the Top 25. The Top 10 will be revealed May 3 with the Top 3 coming May 17 and the winner announced in Oklahoma City prior to the start of the Women's College World Series. |
