NATIONALS BOUND! No. 8 Bama Headed to Fort Worth

Tuscaloosa, AL

The No. 8-ranked Alabama gymnastics team is headed to Fort Worth, Texas, for the 2024 NCAA Championships Semifinals, for the 39th time in program history.

UA advanced after punching its ticket with a 197.575 in the finals of the NCAA Ann Arbor Regional Championships Saturday night in Crisler Center on the University of Michigan campus.

The Oklahoma Sooners edged the Tide with a 198.400 and will also advance to the national semifinals.

#8 Bama Finishes 1st in Semifinal Session, Advances to Regional Final

Ann Arbor, Mich.

The No. 8 Alabama gymnastics team finished in first place Thursday at the Ann Arbor Regional semifinals, advancing to Saturday's regional final.

The Crimson Tide scored a 197.450, defeating Penn State (196.925), No. 9 Michigan (196.725) and Kent State (195.650).

As the top two finishers in the first of two semifinal rounds, the Tide and the Nittany Lions both will advance to Saturday's final.

Gladieux, Blanco Combine for Five WCGA All-America Honors

Tuscaloosa, AL

A pair of Alabama gymnasts combined for five Women's Collegiate Gymnastics Association (WCGA) Regular Season All-America honors, the organization announced Thursday.

Luisa Blanco earned four accolades, picking up first-team honors in the all-around and on vault, along with second-team recognition on the uneven bars and the balance beam.

Blanco has now totaled 20 honors for her career, breaking the program record of 18 set by Jeana Rice from 2001-04.

No. 8 Bama Headed to Michigan for 2024 NCAA Regional's

Tuscaloosa, AL

The No. 8 Alabama gymnastics team will travel to Ann Arbor, Mich., for the 2024 NCAA Regional Championships, the NCAA announced Monday during the Gymnastics Selection Show.

Alabama is the No. 2 seed in the regional, with No. 1 Oklahoma the top seed. The Tide and the Sooners will be joined by host school No. 9 Michigan and No. 16 NC State as the ranked programs in the nine-team regional field.

No. 7 Alabama Finishes Second at 2024 SEC Championships


Tuscaloosa, AL

The No. 7 Alabama gymnastics program finished in second place at the 2024 Southeastern Conference Championships with a score of 197.750 to secure a top-three finish at the conference meet for the 25th straight year, while recording a top-two finish for the 21st time during that span.

With the result Saturday night, the Crimson Tide is still the only program in the league to never finish outside the top four.

No. 7 Bama Becomes First Team to Hit 198 Against No.1 OU


Tuscaloosa, AL

The No. 7 Alabama gymnastics program rolled to a 198.025 team score – the highest road score for the Crimson Tide this season – to become top-ranked Oklahoma's (24-0, 4-0 Big 12) first opponent this season to reach 198.

Despite that, the Crimson Tide fell to the Sooners 198.775 to 198.025.

The Tide (12-4-1; 3-3-1 SEC) got off to an early lead thanks to UA's uneven bars lineup as half of the Tide's lineup posted a 9.925 or higher.

Luisa Blanco tied her career-high of 9.975 as anchor for a share of the event title.

Jamison Sears Named SEC Co-Specialist of the Week

Tuscaloosa, AL

Alabama gymnast Jamison Sears was named the Southeastern Conference Co-Specialist of the Week, the league office announced Tuesday.

As only a freshman, Sears stepped up as leadoff in Alabama's vault lineup and posted a career-high 9.925 to begin the quad meet for the Crimson Tide.

The No. 9 Alabama gymnastics program (9-3-1, 3-3-1 SEC) came up short against the No. 2 LSU Tigers (8-3; 5-2 SEC), 198.325-197.325, Friday night in Pete Maravich Assembly Center.

Despite the loss, the Crimson Tide still posted a season-high score on the balance beam (49.500) behind multiple podium finishes highlighted by an event-winning 9.950 performance on beam.

After starting slow in its opening rotation, Alabama moved to vault where junior Corinne Bunagan made her season debut.

Bama Gets a 198 Team Score, Beats UGA in SEC Meet

The No. 10 Alabama gymnastics program defeated the No. 18 Georgia Bulldogs (1-6, 0-6 SEC) behind a 198.075-196.975 score – a mark that's tied for the third-highest team total in program history.

Behind an energetic crowd of 12,586 in attendance, the Crimson Tide matched or set two season-high rotation scores (uneven bars - 49.600) and (floor exercise - 49.750) for the second consecutive meet.

Four Event Wins Propel No. 9 Bama to 2nd Quad Meet Win

The No. 9 Alabama gymnastics program got back to its winning ways Monday, finishing first in the TWU quad meet behind a season-high score of 197.675.

The Tide rolled past the No. 16 Arkansas Razorbacks (197.375), the No. 17 Arizona Wildcats (196.950) and the TWU Pioneers (195.725) inside Kitty Magee Arena.

The Tide started its day on the balance beam, featuring a season-high-tying 9.825 from Lilly Hudson.

AUBURN, Ala. - The No. 7 Alabama gymnastics program (5-2-1, 2-2-1 SEC) came up short against the No. 14 Auburn Tigers (5-5, 1-3 SEC) Friday night via a 197.725-197.050 score.

Despite the loss, the Crimson Tide recorded its highest rotation score of the season on vault (49.400), highlighted by a career-high 9.950 score from freshman Chloe LaCoursiere.

Bama Loses 197.600-196.975 to Kentucky

The No. 6 Alabama gymnastics program (5-1-1, 2-1-1 SEC) came up short against the No. 3 Kentucky Wildcats (5-2; 3-1 SEC), 197.600-196.975, Friday night in Coleman Coliseum.

Despite suffering its first loss of the season, the Crimson Tide managed to earn podium finishes on all four events behind a total of eight individual, season-high scores.

• No. 3 Bama Stays Undefeated with 197.525 Tie No. 4 Arkansas •

The No. 3 Alabama gymnastics program remained undefeated as three season-high rotation scores helped propel the Crimson Tide (4-0-1, 1-0-1 SEC) to a 197.525-197.525 tie against the No. 4 Arkansas Razorbacks (1-0-1, 1-0-1 SEC). For the second consecutive meet, Alabama bettered its team score while facing a top-five opponent.

The Tide got off to an early lead in its opening rotation as two new faces entered UA's vault lineup. In her event debut, Chloe LaCoursiere posted a 9.850 as leadoff, while Lilly Hudson (9.900) and Luisa Blanco (9.925) each logged season-high performances to help lead Alabama to a season-high rotation score of 49.350 heading into the second rotation.

The Tide steamrolled its way through the uneven bars as LaCoursiere and Cam Machado earned a 9.9 score-or-higher for the third-straight meet. Natalia Pawlak (9.850), Mati Waligora (9.925), Shania Adams (9.925) and Makarri Doggette (9.950) also posted season-high scores of their own to lead Alabama to a 49.600 rotation score – only 0.75 away from tying the program record on the uneven bars.

The Razorbacks posted a third-rotation-leading score of 49.400 to bring Arkansas within 0.025 of the team lead heading into the final event of the meet. As the fourth rotation progressed, Arkansas moved into the lead as junior Lilly Hudson stepped up to perform the final routine of the meet. Without flinching, the Fleming Island, Fla., native posted a clutch, season-high 9.950 score on the floor exercise to even the team score at 197.525 and keep the Crimson Tide undefeated through three weeks of competition.

• Season-High Performances Propel No. 4 Alabama •

The No. 4 Alabama gymnastics program defeated the No. 3 Missouri Tigers, 197.225 – 196.475, in its first Southeastern Conference match-up and first home meet of the season. The Crimson Tide rolled to a season-high score in front of an energetic crowd inside Coleman Coliseum.

Alabama (4-0) got off to an early lead in its opening rotation and led the entirety of the meet. The Crimson Tide recorded a season-high 49.550 on the uneven bars, which would rank third, nationally, prior to Friday's meet.

Entering the final rotation, Missouri (3-1) trimmed Alabama's lead to 147.775 – 147.675 before the Tide rolled through its floor exercise lineup to secure a season-high 49.450 event total to claim the victory.

Luisa Blanco claimed three individual titles on the night – all-around (39.675), uneven bars (9.950) and the floor exercise (9.925), giving her four titles through the first two meets of the season. Mati Waligora made her super-senior debut on the uneven bars, scoring 9.875.

Through Alabama's first two meets, Gabby Gladieux has scored a 9.9 or higher on back-to-back floor routines.

On the uneven bars, Cameron Machado has earned consecutive 9.9-or-higher scores, while freshman Chloe LaCoursiere has posted two-straight career-high scores as leadoff.

LAS VEGAS – The No. 8 Alabama gymnastics program opened the 2024 season with a 197.125 win over No. 5 UCLA (196.550), No. 7 Cal (196.850) and No. 17 Auburn (196.600), Saturday night, at the Mean Girls Super 16 Gymnastics Championships.

The Crimson Tide hit 23 of 24 routines in the meet en route to the program's second-highest score for a season opener.

Sophomore Gabby Gladieux claimed the event title on floor exercise behind a career-high score of 9.975, while super senior Luisa Blanco earned a share of the event title on uneven bars (9.950) before also posting a 39.550 in the all-around for second place.

Senior Shania Adams was awarded her own share of an event title on balance beam behind a 9.900 performance, as Blanco and sophomore Karis German's 9.900 on vault had the duo finish tied for third.

Freshmen Chloe LaCoursiere and Jamison Sears, plus sophomore transfer Natalia Pawlak each made their Crimson Tide debut across vault and bars.

LaCoursiere's and Sears' performances on uneven bars and vault, respectively, helped aid Alabama to its top-two event totals of the night.

LaCoursiere's 9.9 on bars pushed UA to its highest event score of the night at 49.525, while Sears' 9.85 on vault helped earn the Tide's second highest event total, 49.275.

No. 8 Alabama gymnastics will kickstart its season in Las Vegas against No. 5 UCLA, No. 7 Cal and No. 17 Auburn at the nationally-competitive Mean Girls Super 16 Gymnastics Championships, the event announced on Friday.

The four teams will compete in the final session of the event on Saturday, Jan. 6, at 8 p.m. CT, with broadcast information being announced at a later date

Seven regular-season meets for the No. 8 Alabama gymnastics program, including three road meets against the nation's top-three teams, will be broadcast or streamed on the ESPN family of networks, ESPN announced on Thursday with the conjunction of the Southeastern Conference.

Six of the Crimson Tide's meets against an SEC opponent will be televised, with four of the six contests on SEC Network. Three of Alabama's road meets, all against top-three nationally ranked squads, will air on ESPN2: at No. 1 Oklahoma on March 17 (3 p.m. CT), at No. 2 Florida on Jan. 26 (6 p.m.) and at No. 3 LSU on March 1 (5 p.m.).

Both sessions of the 2024 SEC Gymnastics Championship will air on SEC Network, with every round of the NCAA Championships airing on the ABC/ESPN family of networks.

The Television Schedule:

Four Crimson Tide meets will air on SEC Network, including home meets against No. 12 Missouri (Jan. 12 | 6 p.m. CT), No. 15 Arkansas (Jan. 19 | 6:30 p.m.) and No. 9 Kentucky (Feb. 2 | 6:30 p.m.), as well as a road contest with No. 17 Auburn (Feb. 9 | 8 p.m.)

Road meets against No. 1 Oklahoma (March 17 | 3 p.m.), No. 2 Florida (Jan. 26 | 6 p.m.) and No. 3 LSU (March 1 | 5 p.m.) will all air on ESPN2

Both sessions of the SEC Championships (2:30 p.m. | 7 p.m.), on March 23, will air live on the SEC Network

Coverage of NCAA Regionals will stream live on ESPN+ from Ann Arbor, Mich., Berkley, Calif., Fayetteville, Ark. And Gainesville, Fla.

ABC is the home of the 2024 NCAA Championships, with the Championship Final airing live on Saturday, April 20 at 3 p.m.

The semifinal rounds are Thursday, April 18 on ESPN2, with Semifinal I at 3:30 p.m. and Semifinal II at 8 p.m.

Every meet on the ESPN family of networks, which includes the SEC Network, will be available via the ESPN app and ESPN.com/watch

Alabama gymnastics put on a show Friday night in Coleman Coliseum, giving Crimson Tide fans their first look at the 2023-24 squad at the Crimson and White preview meet, as the White team took home the victory.

Alabama showcased more than 30 routines in front of the Crimson Tide faithful. UA had a pair of gymnasts compete in the all-around – senior Shania Adams and sophomore Gabby Gladieux as 15-time All-American and super-senior Luisa Blanco competed on vault, balance beam and floor exercise.

Juniors Corinne Bunagan and Lilly Hudson, senior Cameron Machado and sophomore Rachel Rybicki also competed in three events during the preview meet.

Additionally, all four newcomers, Chloe LaCoursiere, Gabby Ladanyi, Natalia Pawlak and Jamison Sears, made their debut inside Coleman Coliseum.

The Crimson Tide will open its season in Las Vegas for the nationally-competitive Super 16 meet on Jan. 6

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (December 8, 2023) - All eight teams from the Southeastern Conference are ranked in the top 20 in the 2024 Women's Collegiate Gymnastics Association (WCGA) Preseason Poll.

Florida, the defending SEC regular-season and tournament champion, placed second in the poll with three first-place votes and 1,634 total points.

LSU was ranked third with 1,628 points and five first-place votes, while Alabama took eighth place with 1,383 points.

Kentucky placed ninth with 1,326 points, followed by Missouri (12th - 1,082), Arkansas (15th - 999), Georgia (16th - 980) and Auburn (17th - 940).

• Alabama’s Luisa Blanco Qualifies for NCAA Championships •

Alabama senior Luisa Blanco will represent Alabama at the NCAA Championships in Fort Worth, Texas, qualifying as an individual competitor on the uneven bars.

Blanco earned her qualifying spot with a 9.975 on the uneven bars in the Norman regional semifinal last Thursday, the highest score of the afternoon session.
