Penalties, turnovers probably cost Alabama the game otherwise, and it’s time for accountability.
Jalen Milroe’s two interceptions were both terrible throws that never should have left his hand. The interception in the end zone went against Tennessee’s best cornerback, who had a size advantage over Ryan Williams, while Caleb Odom was on the other side against a smaller DB. If it was a forced playcall from the sideline, it was the wrong call. Alabama went back to it later for a touchdown but Williams was working against a different DB. The larger problem here is the number of mistakes and how the continued commission of those errors seems to be happening without a lot of consequences. Kendrick Law’s penalty probably didn’t cost Bama the game, but both Alabama losses have been marked by meltdowns from veteran players at the end. Composure can’t be an issue, but it has become one. And in camera shots on the sideline after Law was flagged, he appeared to be trying to justify why he did it in the first place. This is one of those things that’s going to have to come from the top down and if it upsets players, then they’ll just have to be upset, but Bama has to start getting serious about cutting flags, especially for the truly stupid stuff like we’ve seen at the end of the Vanderbilt and Tennessee games. |

For the first time since 2007, the SEC will enter the month of November with no undefeated teams.
Georgia knocked off No. 1 Texas on Saturday night, leaving every team in the league with at least one loss. Meanwhile, Alabama lost to Tennessee, picking up its second regular-season defeat prior to November for the first time since … 2007. And a couple of teams we largely wrote off after Week 1 are suddenly on six-game winning streaks. |

Alabama football continues its fall in the rankings.
Alabama is now ranked No. 15 in the coaches poll. Just a few weeks ago, after the victory over Georgia, Alabama earned the No. 1 spot in the AP top 25 and the No. 2 spot in the coaches poll.

The shocking loss to Vanderbilt can be only one bad night, or issues from that game could bleed into others. It’s up to the Crimson Tide (4-1, 1-1 SEC) to decide. It won’t sting the pain of a loss to Vanderbilt, but Alabama football will receive a stack of money from the Commodores after VU fans rushed the field at FirstBank Stadium after their team beat the Crimson Tide Saturday.
The fine will be $100,000, which will be paid to UA under the SEC’s 2023 field entry fine structure. The fine was Vanderbilt’s first under the new fine structure. |

Fans of the Vanderbilt Commodores danced onto the field, jumping up and down as they tore down a goal post, carried it out of the stadium and rang out sweet sounds of victory.
Then they toted the goal post just over a couple miles and tossed it into the Cumberland River. Their school’s historic win over No. 1 Alabama deserved to be celebrated this way. |

Georgia hasn’t seen a quarterback like Alabama football’s Jalen Milroe since the 2023 SEC championship game.
That game, where Milroe won MVP and led the Crimson Tide to a win that knocked Kirby Smart’s Bulldogs out of the College Football Playoff race, put UGA on alert. On Saturday, Smart’s group will face Milroe again when Georgia visits Bryant-Denny Stadium. The Bulldog head coach was complimentary of the quarterback when asked about him Monday. |

Kalen DeBoer provided an Alabama football injury update on Malachi Moore, Qua Russaw, Cole Adams and Richard Young on Monday after the Wisconsin game.
Moore, Russaw and Young each left the win over Wisconsin with injuries. Adams sustained an injury in the South Florida game and did not play vs. Wisconsin. Alabama has an open week before facing Georgia a week from Saturday at Bryant-Denny Stadium. Here’s what DeBoer said about each player Monday. |

The 4/4 Alabama football team showcased its explosivity on Saturday, as the Crimson Tide improved to 3-0 this season with a 42-10 win over Wisconsin.
Jalen Milroe starred yet again, with the junior quarterback finishing 12-of-17 for 196 yards and three touchdowns through the air. Milroe was Alabama's leading rusher as well, totaling 75 yards on 14 attempts, adding two rushing touchdowns to his stat line. |

The White team (offense) defeated the Crimson squad (defense), 34-28, in the 2024 Golden Flake A-Day Football Game inside Bryant-Denny Stadium.
A total of 72,358 fans were in attendance to witness the first game action of the Kalen DeBoer era. Running back Jam Miller earned the Dixie Howell Award as the game's Most Valuable Player, finishing with 83 yards and two touchdowns on just eight carries. Alabama football head coach Kalen DeBoer released a statement on Thursday, after former Washington running back, Tylin “Tybo” Rogers, was arrested and charged with two counts of rape.
Rogers was charged with two different counts of rape. He was suspended indefinitely by Washington following the arrest. Rogers played in the College Football Playoff for Washington, coached by DeBoer, after the alleged first incident in October — Rogers missed the Pac-12 title game against Oregon. |

Scrimmages are tough for coaches to evaluate. A great day for the offense means the defense was a step behind or vice versa. Kalen DeBoer was in that spot with Alabama football on Thursday.
Throwing in the lore of Bryant-Denny Stadium and the challenges of a new offense and defense for players to learn, it went well. Quarterbacks made good decisions. The energy was there. Yet, DeBoer paused when asked about one area: How did the pass protection go? |

After the New England Patriots traded Mac Jones to Jacksonville, the former Alabama quarterback hoped to “get the train back on the tracks” with the Jaguars.
A starter from his first NFL game with the Patriots in 2021, Jones lost that position with six games remaining in 2023 season. With one season left on Jones’ guaranteed contract, New England gave up on the quarterback. |
