Tuscaloosa, AL Alabama volleyball tallied its fifth sweep in as many matches, defeating Alabama A&M in three sets (25-12, 25-10, 25-11) Saturday afternoon at the Green Wave Classic. Alabama (5-0) hit .479 as a team, opposed to a -.044 clip from Alabama A&M (1-4). Making her first career start, freshman Kaleigh Palmer tied for the team lead with eight kills alongside Micah Gryniewicz. After earning 7.5 team blocks in yesterday's win over Tulane, the front-row defense was strong again today with 7.0 led by Chaise Campbell with one solo and three assisted. Notes: The 5-0 start is Alabama's first since 2018, with that team ultimately going 11-0 before taking its first loss. All five of Alabama's wins have come in three sets. The Tide's .479 hitting percentage is its second-highest of the season, only trailing the .525 in the season opener vs. Mississippi Valley State. The match marked the third time in five matches the Tide has earned at least 7.0 team blocks. Freshman Kaleigh Palmer made her first career start, leading the team with eight kills. Chaise Campbell's four blocks (one solo, three assisted) tie her season best. Victoria Schmer has tallied at least one service ace in four of Alabama's five matches this season.
