• Injury updates for Key, Moore and Henderson •

• 2023 Bama Football 2023 •  Tuscaloosa, AL Alabama football’s defensive back group suffered some injuries on Saturday when Malachi Moore and Jaylen Key went out of the game. On Monday, Nick Saban said both players were day-to-day in the week leading up to Alabama’s matchup with Texas. “It’s probably too early to tell what their circumstance will be,” Saban said. “Probably be a couple of days and we’ll figure it out, but I don’t think either guy has long-term issues. But it’ll be interesting to see how they progress this week.” Key left the game in the second quarter. Earlier in the game, the UAB transfer grabbed his first interception of the season. He had earned the start for his first game in Tuscaloosa and finished with four total tackles along with the pick. Moore also cracked the starting lineup.. Moore exited in the third quarter after being injured on a punt return. His night ended with two tackles. After the game, Saban said he did not know the extent of either defensive back’s injuries. On Monday, he also gave an update on the status of wide receiver Emmanuel Henderson, who did not dress for the MTSU game and will miss more time. “He has a hip injury,” Saban said. “It’s gonna probably be a few more weeks before he gets back into the swing of things but hard to know exactly when. They’ll do some rechecks on him here, next week or two.” Saban praised the receiver on his performance prior to the injury. “He was having a great fall camp,” the head coach said. “Doing a great job on special teams, made a lot of progress as a receiver so we’d love to get him back.” Alabama faces Texas at 6:00 p.m. Saturday at Bryant-Denny Stadium.
