Tuscaloosa, AL

The ninth-ranked Alabama soccer team (7-1-4, 1-1-1 SEC) recorded a 1-0 victory over Vanderbilt (6-2-3, 1-2-0 SEC) Sunday to extend its home unbeaten streak to 26 games.

Marianna Annest scored the game-winning goal off a cross from Sydney Japic and flick off the head of Kate Henderson. Additionally, the Crimson Tide shut out its sixth opponent this season as UA kept the Commodores off the scoreboard.

From Head Coach Wes Hart:

"We had a great response and exactly how we hoped and expected we would. I thought it was important that we go out and have a good performance. More so than anything, I just wanted us to compete and battle, and we did that. The defense came up big tonight and they made plays and Dylan (Pixton) made plays. I think that gives us a lot of confidence going into the next one."

The Game:

With less than five minutes to play in the first half, Sydney Japic crossed a ball towards goal, just outside the six-yard box.
Kate Henderson leaped in the air to flick the ball behind Vanderbilt's back line for Marianna Annest to run onto and score the game-winning goal.
Dylan Pixton recorded her fourth shutout of the season after making five saves in the game.
The Crimson Tide led in shots on goal, 6-5, while Vanderbilt paced the game in overall attempts, 13-9.

Up Next:

The Crimson Tide will play on the road Friday, traveling to Kentucky.
The SEC road game will kick off at 6:30 p.m. CT on SEC Network+.
