Tuscaloosa, AL
Alabama football’s 2024 recruiting class grew on Saturday, when the Crimson Tide took a commitment from wide receiver Amari Jefferson. The two-sport athlete had previously been committed to Tennessee baseball.
Jefferson, who plays his high school sports at Baylor School in Chattanooga, Tenn., is rated as a four-star prospect in the 247Sports composite. The service ranked him as the No. 16 athlete in the class, No. 209 player nationally. The Crimson Tide beat out both Tennessee and Georgia for Jefferson’s commitment. He had announced his original commitment to the Volunteers in June of 2021. Jefferson is listed at 6-foot-1 and 185 pounds on Maxpreps. According to 247Sports, he had 72 catches for 1,370 yards and 17 touchdowns last season. He is the second wide receiver commitment in Alabama’s 2024 class. Jefferson joined fellow four-star prospect Rico Scott, though Jameer Grimsley, who projects mostly as a defensive back, can also play the position. The Crimson Tide’s commitment group grew to 15 with the addition of Jefferson. Before his commitment, Alabama’s class ranked No. 14 in the nation on the 247 composite. |
