2022 Alabama Football 2022

 Tuscaloosa, AL

♦ Grading Bama By Position ♦

BamaOnLine.com hands out position grades for sixth-ranked Alabama following its 30-6 win over No. 24 Mississippi State.

Quarterback:

Of Bryce Young's 249 passing yards in the game, 174 came in the first half. Both of his touchdown passes came on third downs. Young's muff of a shotgun snap late in the third quarter led to an 11-yard loss. The play came after he recovered another fumble after being sacked earlier in the quarter.

Fifth outing with multiple touchdowns passes this season for Young, who gave way to Jalen Milroe in the fourth quarter. Milroe attempted two passes in relief of Young, completing one to Tyler Harrell for 12 yards. Uneven performance for the offense in general and given the limitations Young and others continue to work through, it probably shouldn't have come as a surprise. C+ - here - From Us B.

Running Backs:

Between Jahmyr Gibbs, Roydell Williams and Jase McClellan, UA got 53 rushing yards on 22 carries by its three backs. The trio also combined to catch seven passes for 54 yards, totaling 29 offensive touches for 107 scrimmage yards (3.7 yards per touch). Gibbs' rushing touchdown was his sixth in the last four games.

After averaging a season-low 3.7 yards per carry at Tennessee the previous Saturday, Alabama produced 1.1 yards per tote this week. With run lanes difficult to come by, just two runs of 12 yards or more, with both coming from Gibbs. Banged up position wasn't able to produce much in the way of yards after contact, either. Another C+ - From Us C.
