Alabama Women’s Tennis Falls 4-0 to No. 16 UF


Tuscaloosa, AL

The No. 17 Alabama women's tennis team fell to No. 16 Florida, 4-0, on Sunday in Gainesville, Fla.

Doubles duo Ola Pitak and Klara Milicevic led Alabama (13-3, 4-2 SEC) after earning the Tide's only win during doubles play.

Pitak and Milicevic defeated Rachel Gailis and Bente Spee, 6-4, on court three, which improved their overall doubles record to 6-1.

Florida (8-7, 4-2 SEC) would go on to claim the doubles point before clinching the match with three singles matches victories.

The Alabama women's tennis team swept Furman in its morning match and UAB in its afternoon match in the Saturday double-header inside the Roberta Alison Baumgardner Tennis Facility, improving to 2-0 on the season.

Head Coach Jonatan Berhane's Comments

"Overall, we did a good job in our morning match against Furman. It was encouraging to see how the team managed themselves under pressure. We need to do a better job staying focused throughout the whole match against UAB. Roll Tide!"

• BAMA CLOSES SEASON WITH AN LOSS TO SO. CAR. •

In a long, back-and-forth match on Sunday, the Alabama women's tennis team fell to No. 29 South Carolina (13-9, 8-5 SEC), 4-0, at the Alabama Tennis Stadium.

The match was the final competition of the regular season, as the Crimson Tide (12-11, 5-8 SEC) will head to the SEC Tournament to face Vanderbilt on Thursday in Fayetteville, Ark.

• Bama Women’s Tennis Hosts Mississippi State, Ole Miss In Weekend Matches. •


The Crimson Tide welcomes Mississippi State Friday at 3 p.m. CT, before facing Ole Miss Sunday at 1 p.m.

The Alabama Women's Tennis team (7-4, 0-1 SEC) returns home to host Mississippi State (10-3, 0-2 SEC) and Ole Miss (7-3, 1-1 SEC), after two weeks on the road.

First serve between the Tide and the Bulldogs is scheduled for 3 p.m. CT on Friday, while UA and Ole Miss face off Sunday at 1 p.m. CT.
